Tears Fall

This week for Song-Lyric Sunday, Helen wants us to share a song that friends may laugh at, or something you consider a guilty pleasure. But I don’t like to call them guilty pleasures. If I like a song, I’m going to like it no matter what anyone thinks.

It’s no secret that Heavy Metal is my life’s blood, and has been since I was 7 years old. Yes, 7 years old. But it’s not the only genre that I listen to. I’ve always been partial to the female voice in pop and dance music. Some of my favorite pop artists are Adele, Ellie Goulding, and Kelly Clarkson. Also new artists such as Tove Lo (Talking Body) and Zara Larsson (Never Forget You).

When I was shopping at Forever 21, I heard a song playing that immediately struck my attention. Determined to find out about the artist, I memorized some of the lyrics so I could look them up online later, forgetting that I had Shazam on my phone. So, when I did look it up, I found out the song is Tears Fall by Jacquie Lee, who was a contestant on the Voice.

Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life
Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life

I’ve had enough of your hidin’ us,
How it would be you don’t see
Your true colors showed up a little brighter,
Why’d you keep on playing me?!
I pull my hands back on the throttle my love
‘Cause I’ve felt you’re driving me into a deep darkness,
Into the darkness.

And I don’t let you see me cry,
Didn’t ask why, just told you that you’re leaving tonight
This is our goodbye!

Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life
Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life

I can take a deep breath now that you have left,
You didn’t get the best of me,
The raw pain it never goes away
But it gets better everyday!
I was so wrapped up, I was blinded by love
Couldn’t see a way to leave
But I am coming out of the darkness,
Out of the darkness.

And I don’t let you see me cry,
I don’t ask why, why you’re not here with me tonight
Already said goodbye!

Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life
Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life

I watched you leave, couldn’t breathe couldn’t cry
Felt like I was dying
Than I let a tear fall, let myself feel it all
Now I know, now I know that I’m gonna survive
If I let a single tear fall, drown myself in it all

Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life
Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life

Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life
Tears fall, and I know that this pain
Is just a part of life

  1. What a great song! The lyrics describe grief and how that is also part of life. I will add this artist to my Jango.com list…I mostly listen to Indie songwriters …great way to discover new arttists.

  2. I think you and I are music soul sisters. Haha. I love this song! I’ve never heard it before, so I can’t even thank you enough for introducing it to me. I tend to lean towards female singers as well.

Pain is a part of life, but we don’t have to let it define us. My favorite line – “Then I let a tear fall, let myself feel it all…”

    Thank you!! 🙂
