Undiluted Light

From a place, dark
With thoughts of self-harm
Blinded by the void
No light, not even a flicker

Like moving in a dream
I began to climb, somewhere I do not recall
Yet the darkness still follows
Ready to consume

My heart, too delicate for life, for love
Slowly, I move on
Careful not to break within
Finally, there is a light

A beacon of light, undiluted
Beyond which I see a matching soul
Reaching for my delicate, though still-beating heart
I follow, careful not to break

Maria of Doodles and Scribbles and Rosema of A Reading Writer are inviting everyone to join their July blog event, Word-High July. They provide a Filipino word prompt for each day in July. I was inspired by the word, dalisay, which means pure, undiluted.

“Ang tula mo ay dalisay, Josslyn”.

    “A beacon of light, undiluted
Beyond which I see a matching soul
Reaching for my delicate, though still-beating heart
I follow, careful not to break”
