Above me lingers
The shadow of death
Yet I’m too weak
To fend it off

All alone here
No one to comfort me
Torn to shreds
By the smallest fragments

I fight back the tears
They do not cleanse
Instead they lure
The shadow closer

A song plays
In the background of my mind
Music without words
It lifts the weight
Slightly from my heart

Ever more darker
The shadow remains
My own words fail
To bring light

A cold hand upon my chest
I look into the face of death
Her eyes like the night sky
Her whispers, like the song
Are without words

Yet she sings to me
Her voice so sweet, so haunting
It brings comfort
To my broken soul
