I’m lying here
Wide awake
Desperate for sleep

My mind, wandering
Reminiscing about the day
Now gone
Predicting tomorrow

I hear a creaking sound
The door opening
Footsteps around my bed

My first instinct
To face my intruder
Yet my body is rendered

Somehow I see my intruder
His face obscured
Knife in hand
Or is it a gun?

I can’t understand
Why can’t I move?
Paralyzed by fear
Oh, God, I’m going to die!

Time is lost
I’m fading now
Yesterday never was
Tomorrow will never come

Now my eyes flutter open
I see sunlight streaming through the blinds
It is a new day

  1. Sleep paralysis! That happens to one of my friends sometimes, the last time it happened he said he felt like a demon was in his room. He tried to wake his girlfriend but he couldn’t move or speak. Freaky!! Great ink my friend!
